GAS DRILL

OPPOSED FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received January 5, 12.33 a.m.) LONDON, January 4. On the ground of adverse psychological peace-time effects the Board of Education opposes gas drill for schoolchildren, which should not be undertaken till absolutely necessary. The local authorities meanwhile will work out emergency measures, including the closing of the schools in dense areas at the outbreak of war. The idea! solution would be the evacuation of the scholars to safer country districts. Schools located on the routes of raiders, should be provided with shelter trenches, and gasproof rooms. Children in less exposed areas should carry gasmasks to school.
