PAIRS COMPETITION

SPLENDID ENTRIES With the commencement of the pairs competition on Saturday, the Christmas tournament entered the final phase. This competition was to have been played on Monday last, but had to be postponed owing to rain. The competition did not suffer as a result of the delay, however, for the entries totalled 64, which was an improvement on last year. Five greens were used during the day, and all were in good order, though perhaps on the slow side. Good progress was made, and at the end of four rounds 19 players were left in To qualify for the post-sectional play, three or four wins had to be secured.
