WOMEN’S DIVISION
MAUNGATI BRANCH The October meeting of the Maungati branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at the home of Mrs Herbert Elworthy, Craigmore. Mrs Dale presided over the meeting which was curtailed as much as possible to allow time for a good look round the gardens. Mrs Allan’s resignation owing to leaving the district was received with regret. It was decided to make Christmas gifts costing not more than 2/- for exchange at the December meeting. Tne party were then shown round the gardens which were admired by all. A delicious afternoon tea which was served in the lounge brought a happy afternoon to a finish. Mrs Dent thanked Mrs Elworthy for her kindness in entertaining the members, all having thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The competitions resulted as follows: Date scones: Mesdames Smith 1, Eggleton 2, Calder 3. Lettuce: Mesdames McDonald 1, Peter 2, Munro 3. Pillow case: Mesdames Calder 1, Cookson 2, Mrs Munro 3. Bloom: Mesdames McDonald 1, Calder 2, Peter 3.
