CONDITIONS IN TIMARU The most perfect day for many months was experienced on Saturday when for more than 13 hours bright sunshine made conditions warm and pleasant. The evening was mild and clear but yesterday morning the sky had clouded. An easterly breeze, however, blew the clouds inland before midday leaving the afternoon clear and sunny. Records at Timaru Park on Saturday were;— Barometer—29.92. Max. temp.—7s. Mln. temp, on grass—36.6. Wind—N.E.E.2. Sunshine—l3.l. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer—3o.lo. Max. temp.—69. Min. temp, on grass—4o.2. Wind—N.N.E.3. Rainfall to date this year—l7.B3in. Rainfall to date last year—2s.o9in. Sunshine—6.2. Sunshine to date this year—l 649.3 hours.
IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: Yesterday the weather was fine and warm with a light easterly wind. Saturday also was fine and warm with a moderate wind from the east-north-east. The maximum temperate was 69.8 degrees. Temuka: Saturday was an exceptionally hot day the thermometer reaching 89 degrees in the shade throughout the middle of the day. Yesterday was much cooler an easterly breeze assisting in keeping the temperature down to 67 degrees. The minimum recordings were respectively 37 and 44 degrees. The barometer was falling last evening. Geraldine: Saturday: Bright and fine, moderate nor’-west wind, veering to southerly late in evening. Yesterday morning dull and overcast, after fine. Dunedin: The sun shone all day on Saturday for a total of 14 hours 40 minutes and temperatures were warm, the maximum being 76 degrees. In the afternoon- there was a slight breeze from the south, but the sky remained cloudless. The barometer fell slightly, but was rising again in the evening at 30.15 inches. Yesterday was also bright and sunny, but a strong northeasterly breeze tempered the heat. The maximum temperature was 67 degrees. The barometer rose to 30.40 inches, and then began to fall somewhat sharply. CANTERBURY FORECAST Special to " The Timaru Herald." WELLINGTON .November 28.
