TEAM FOR EMPIRE GAMES

HON. W. E. PARRY SUGGESTED AS MANAGER By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 25. A suggestion that the Hon. W. E. Parry should be asked to accept the managership of the New Zealand swimming team to visit the Empire Games was made at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association this evening. Mr J. W. Toomey, who moved the motion, said the Minister had done wonderful work for sport in the Dominion. Mr Baxter O’Neill said that if Mr Parry accepted it would be the first time that a Minister of the Crown had gone abroad from New Zealand in such a position. It would give a great fillip to the sport and the gain in prestige would be immense. The suggestion will be forwarded to the New Zealand Olympic Council.
