SERIOUS FLOODS IN VICTORIA United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph -Copyright (Received October 19, 6.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE. October 19. Continuous rains caused serious flooding in Central and Eastern Victoria. A gigantic wall is approaching Kooweerup, in Glppsland. A special train has been rushed to the town to evacuate the inhabitants. Floods in the Yarra Valley caused heavy losses of stock and serious damage to farms. Many homes near Melbourne are inundated.
FLOOD MENACE PASSES SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE REPORTED United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright (Received October 19, 10.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, October 19. There was no rain in the metropolitan area since 9 o’clock last night. Most of the rivers and creeks are scedfng and the general flood peril appears to have passed. The Yarra river overflowed its banks near Kew reached the doorsteps of the houses, partly covered three golf courses and seriously damaged the market gardens. One hundred square miles of rich fields and farms are inundated in southern Glppsland.
