GRAND JURIES
VALUE TO COMMUNITY Bv I Rlßtfratlti Hfn*- Assouianoo CHRISTCHURCH, Ocober 19 A reference to the value of Grand Juries was made by Mr Justice Northcroft in the Supreme Court to-day at the opening of the criminal session. “From time to time,” said his Honour, “there is discussion as to whether the Grand Jury is justified, and not merely a waste of time of busy people. You will realise how necessary it is that important members of the community play their part in the administration of justice, especially when social questions are involved as they are to-day. It is important that they should see the evidence on which the charges are based, and make any representations they think necessary.”
