ORARI

FARMERS’ MEETING A meeting of the Temuka Farmers’ Union was held at Orari on Thursday evening when there was a good attendance of members. Mr Lynn of Geraldine, gave an interesting address on the making of ensilage and at the close of his address answered several questions. Mr Mulligan, Clandeboye, gave an outline of the work undertaken by the secretary and remarked that he had been in correspondence with practically every member of the Cabinet on some subject or other. Mr Buchan (president), gave an Interesting talk, while points regarding the dairy industry were debated. Supper was served by the ladies. PERSONAL Miss K. Flowers is spending a short holiday with her sister in Waimate. Miss Raine is the guest of Mr and Mrs G. I. Hamilton, “Roselle," Orari. Miss D. Holland, South Africa, has arrived to stay with Mr and Mrs G. I. Hamilton. DANCE On Saturday evening a dance was held in the Orari Coronation Hall in aid of the School and Women's Institute funds. Ther was a good attendance, music being supplied by an orchestra. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss D. Williams and Mr Bert Killoh, while a Monte Carlo was won by Miss O, Brenton and Mr Gillium. Extras were played by Miss Othle Brenton and Messrs A. Henderson and W. Smith.
