To the Editor of," The Tlmaru Herald." Sir, —The young women’s olympik meeting held la.st Saturday afternoon deserved the best wishes and support of all who are Interested in the health and deportment, of our young and rising generation. Groups of trained athletes vied with one another in speed and agility to win the coveted honours. Their healthy appearance and grace of ihovement were a tribute to weeks and months of practice, and were a joy to Watch—like a greyhound, slipped from the leash, and flash to, the lead doing the 100. in 12 seconds r.nd striding the hurdles in Olympic style; long jumps and high. /These young women were giving . glorious exhibitions of athletic yhuth for the guidance of the present and future, and they deserve special congratulations, for the successfully high standard of their . performance. 1 Undoubtedly the public who were absent njissed one of the very best sports meetings ever held in New Zealand.— I am, etc., ATHLETE.
