SPEECH BY HIGH COMMISSIONER

QUESTION IN THE HOUSE By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, September 21. In the House of Representatives today, Mr K. J. Holyoake (Nat., Motueka) gave notice to ask the Prime Minister whether the speech made by the New Zealand High Commissioner (Mr W. J. Jordan) at a recent meeting of the League of Nations at Geneva, in which he advocated the placing of Spain under League mandate, had been made with the full cognisance and approval of the New Zealand Government, and also whether the British Foreign Secretary and representatives of other British dominions were consulted prior to the making of Mr Jordan’s speech. He also asked if representatives of the British Commonwealth were consulted prior to the making of this speech, and were they in agreement with the sentiments expressed by Mr Jordan.
