NEW RADIO STATION
WILL SERVE EAST COAST DISTRICTS By Telegraph—Press Association HASTINGS, September 21. Ths site for the erection of a broadcasting transmission station to give service to the major portion of the East Coast districts has been decided upon, and the Government’s intention is to take under the Public Works Act an area of 12 acres in the vicinity of Opapa, 15 miles south of Hastings. As it is understood that the Department has in view the erection of a station as powerful ar: that of the auxiliary station 2YC at Wellington, namely 5000 watts, such a ration would meet all requirements from Palmerston North to Gisborne and probably over a wider area.
No announcement has yet been made as to the location of a studio.
