CROQUET
WEST END CLUB The annual meeting of the West End Croquet Club was held recently. Mrs Chapman presided over a fair attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. Mrs Chapman, the retiring president, declined nomination for another year, and before vacating the chair thpnked members for their help during theseven years she had been in office. Whilst she had been happy in her work she felt that she must have a rest. Mrs Renton also declined-nomination again as secretary, and thanked members for their help and kindness during her ten years in office. Mrs Beckett proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring members, all members agreeing that they had put up a wonderful record. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs Riley; vice-president, Mrs Cornwall; captain, Mrs B’. ackham; vice-captain, Mr Ball; secretary and. treasurer, Mrs Darby; tea conveners, Mesdanies Denison and Neilson;’ com* mittee, Mesdames Beckett, Ashton and Logan.
It was decided to open the green for the 1937-38 season on Thursday, October 14.
