NEW ZEALANDERS IN ENGLAND LAST MATCH OF TOUR Prom the Special Correspondent ot the United Press Association SCARBOROUGH, Sept. 8. Although at the fag end of an arduous tour, the New Zealanders bowled and fielded with commendable zest in their match against Mr H. D. G. Leveson-Gower’s team, the wicket and outfield favouring the batsmen. The batsmen showed restraint practically throughout the innings and were several times barracked lor slow scoring. Lowry again frequently varied the attack. Cowie, Roberts. Weir, Gallichan, Moloney and Donnelly were used for short spells, there being 14 bowling changes before lunch. The first three wickets fell for 60. Wyatt once more fought determinedly in a crisis and was assisted by Yardley, Nichols, and Maxwell. The New Zealand fielding was keen. Donnelly w:.s outstanding. He made a fine catch at the square leg boundary and was responsible for a brilliant throw out from square leg. The later batsmen hit brillianlty. Brown hit four fours and one six in one over off Gallichan. • The spin bowlers persevered despite severe punishment, Moloney and Gallichan achieving well deserved successes. Wyatt was in nearly* four hours. Hadlee made a magnificent running catch at long-on to finish the innings. Scarborough was thronged with holiday visitors and the attendance was 1000.
