DRAUGHT HORSE COMPETITION

MR P. A. ELWORTHY SUCCESSFUL The third draught horse competition conducted by the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday, seven four-horse teams competing. The competition was most successful, the judges, Messrs A. Lambie, St. Andrews, and J. Craig, Timaru, being very satisfied with the condition of the leading teams, which they stated, were evenly balanced and in first-class condition. The first competitor to be judged was Mr P. A. Elworthy, Gordon’s Valley, and from there the judges, under the leadership of Mr P. Porter. Rosewill, visited farms in the following order:—Messrs H. Elworthy, Craigmore, A. S. Elworthy, Holme Station, R. McMillan. Glen-iti, J. E. P. Cameron, Glen-iti, D. Grant. Elloughton Grange, J. N. Nicol, Hadlow, and Mr C. L. Orbell, Levels. The party was entertained at lunch by Mr and Mrs P. Porter, Rosewill.
