Mrs J. Ainger, Christchurch, is a guest at the Grosvenor. Mr and Mrs Crosbie, Garston, are registered at the Dominion. Mrs J. O'Connor, Christchurch, Is at the Grand.

Miss N. Pilling, Canada, is visiting Timaru, and is staying at the Grand.

Mr and Mrs Jasper Herrick, Hawke’s Bay, Mr and Mrs H. B. L. Johnstone, Waimate, Mr and Mrs E. S. Johnstone, Otaio, and Mr Ronald Savill, North Canterbury, are members of Mr and Mrs H. B. S. Johnstone’s house party at their town house in Park Terrace during race week.

Miss Mary Boyd, a successful student of the Victoria University College, will leave this week to connect with the P. and O. liner ss. Narkunda at Sydney en route for London. Miss Boyd has had a most successful career at the college, having gained the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1934, and being awarded a Senior University Scholarship in the same year. In 1935 she became Master of Science, with first-class honours in zoology, and, in the same year, was awarded the Jacob Joseph Research Scholarship, which she held at the University College. As a result of her work she has been awarded a travelling scholarship .which she is taking up at the University College, London. Her special interest has been in the New Zealand lizards and she will take specimens with her, for further study on their structure and disease. Miss Boyd has taken a keen interest in the work of the Evangelical Union at the Victoria College, having been acting as graduate president of the union during the past year. She has also been a popular leader at the seaside camps arranged by the Children’s Special Service Mission in the Wellington Province.
