PUTTING IN THE BOOKS

To the Editor of ” The Tlmaru Herald.” Sir,—As one of the many sustenance men of Tlmaru I would like to know why the men who were working on Monday for a few hours (their reporting day), were not allowed to put their books in when they reported, when their work was done early hi the afternoon, but had to call this morning (Tuesday) at 8.15. The practice at the Tlmaru unemployed office for some time past has been to report as soon as you have finished work, but this was not done on Monday. For what reason i would like to know. Tills meant that these men had to report at 8.15 this morning so that would mean they could not be at their usual place to see if there was work for them. This is a case for the Minister of Employment to see into if he wants the men to look for work Instead of running to the Labour Office to suit the officers and lose the work the Labour Government promises to the sustenance men. So I will ask the Minister why the books were not taken by the officer In charge on Monday, as In the past; also where did the officer of Tlmaru get his orders to make this change.—l am, etc., CHANGE WANTED HERE. Tlmaru, July 20.
