The New Zealand Boxing Association wrote advising that the New Zealand championships would be held at Greymouth on September 9, 10 and 11. Mr Dineen expressed the opinion that every endeavour should be made to have the Association represented by a team. It was decided that the matter be fully discussed at next meeting. The financial statement was presented by the secretary and approved. Four new members were elected, bringing the total up to 99. It was decided that guarantors other than members of the Association be given a complimentary ticket. The match committee reported on the negotiations between Gildo, Jarvis and the Association, which had been completed for the match to take place next Tuesday. Mr Currie, in moving that the committee’s report be adopted, said that the prospects for a great bout and an excellent attendance were exceedingly bright. The match was undoubtedly the best that could be secured to New Zealand.

Mr Best, in seconding the motion, said that the Association was greatly indebted to the guarantors, who had made it possible for the Association to offer such a purse and secure such highly rated boxers. The motion was adopted. The secretary reported that the articles had been signed and returned by the contestants.

Correspondence was received from Gildo’s manager that Gildo would be coming by aeroplane from Blenheim on Saturday afternoon. A sub-committee was appointed to meet Gildo on his arrival and make necessary arrangements.
