One of the new London NorthEastern Railway Coronation trains, which will mean a six hour service between King’s Cross and Edinburgh from Monday next, made a preliminary run to-day to Grantham. Eight miles south of Grantham, on the return journey the train covered a complete mile at the speed of 109 m.p.h. The whole 105 miles of the return journey was covered in 854 minutes. The Coronation train, without the engine, had a weight of 312 tons.
