MARIST SCHOOL
OUTBREAK OF FIRE By Telegraph -Press Association WANGANUI, June 30 Early • this morning fire, which started in the study, gutted the Marist Bros’ living quarters attached to the school at the corner of Wicksteed and Dublin Streets. Water also flooded the classrooms, which could not be used to-day. The library and all school records were destroyed. Brothers Oswyn, Sylvester and Brended, sleeping on the premises, had narrow escapes, having to make their way out of a window on to a steep iron roof over the classroom, which, owing to the frost, was very slippery at the time. The building, which was wooden, was erected 40 years ago.
