PATRONAL FESTIVAL

ST. PETER’S, KENSINGTON

St Peter’s Anglican Church, Kensington, celebrated its patronal festival on Tuesday with services during the day. and a social gathering in the church hall in the evening. Considering that it was a week-day, an encouraging number of parishioners came to the morning services to take Communion in their Church on its birthday. The evening service was well attended and the church practically filled with worshippers. The offerings for the day were placed on one side as a pleasing commencement of a church fabric fund, with which it is hoped some day to add to and beautify the church. At the social gathering in the evening. items were contributed by Miss Nancy McKenzie, Miss Jean Rankin, Mr W. Cunningham and Mr A. Rankin. Music for dancing was provided by Mrs Hutton, and Messrs R. Hawke and W. Cunningham, with Mr C. Whitehouse as M.C. The supper dispensed by the ladies included a beautiful birthday cake illuminated with 23 candles, one for every year the church has served the Anglican people of South Timaru. The celebration of the festival will conclude with a children’s party on Saturday, and special service on Sunday nexf.
