DO BOYS NEED MEN TEACHERS?
“Boys resent the domination of the woman teacher, and equally they expect and Invite the domination of the man teacher,” declared a speaker at a recent conference of the National Association of Schoolmasters at Stoke-on-Trent, England. They must, he said, be able to comply with the request of parents wher they said of their boys. ‘ Make s man of him,” or the comparable request for a girl, “Make a woman o. her.” It was quite common and natural to. boys of seven to begin to resent th) control of women teachers. Another speaker declared tba patience was not the characteristic o women teachers. (Incidentally, it ha I yet to be proved that patience i ! peculiar to men!) I A resolution was carried calling at i tention to the “grave and irreparabl loss" caused by the gradual passing o I the village schoolmaster.
