Sir Edward Beatty, chairman of directors of the Canadian Steamship Line, left for Canada after attending the Imperial shipping discussions. He said: “It is the hope’of the leaders of New Zealand, Australia and Canada that an agreement can be submitted to the Governments and companies concerned within a few weeks. Meantime plans for vessels are being completed, and tenders invited.”
