CONDITIONS IN TIMARU A frost of 13 degrees, the heaviest this winter, was recorded yesterday morning, after which conditions were very cold and bleak. After a few hours of .sunshine around midday, the sky became overcast and the weather for the remainder of the day was dull and unpleasant. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer—3o.o3. Max. temp.—44. Min. temp, on grass—l 9. Frost—l 3 degrees. Wind—E.N.E.l. Rain—Nil. Rainfall to date this year—l2.s2in. Rainfall to date last year—l7.l3in. Sunshine—3.2 hours. Sunshine to date this year—9l3hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch: The weather was fine but cloudy yesterday with a very light north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 47.2 degrees. The barometer had a falling tendency and registered 30.06 in. at 5 p.m. Ashburton: Tire fine conditions of the last few days continued yesterday. A frost of 8.5 degrees was recorded, the morning folowing being fairly sunny, although the sky was slightly cloudy. The wind was from the north. Geraldine: Air temperatures, min. 29, max. 58; at 9 a.m. 38. Bright and fine throughout the day. Temuka: Yesterday was cold with little sunshine. Ten degrees of frost was recorded yesterday morning. The maximum temperature was 41 degrees. The glass was falling yesterday. Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Thermometer, max. 51.2; min. 28.0; frost, 14 degrees; bright sunshine, 6 hours 48 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 28. Yesterday was bright and sunny. Dunedin: The weather yesterday' was calm and mild after a sharp frost in certain parts of the city overnight There was a heavy ground fog in the morning, but the sun shone brightly during the day. The maximum temperature was 46 degrees. The barometer was steady at 30.15 inches. CANTERBURY FORECAST Winds—Light to moderate but freshening east to north-east. Weather —Fair at first but with increasing cloud, and later drizzling rain in places; temperatures rather milder. Seas.—Slight to moderate, but later increasing somewhat.
