Wrong Finish The open amateur golf tournament at Eastward Ho, Felixtowe, England. for which a car was offered as first prize, has been abandoned at the request of the English Golf Union. A golf competition oughtn’t to finish with a drive. Consistent Performer A. Ross played good golf to win the Coronation medal match at North End with a net 59. He was again successful in the Stableford bogey on Saturday, his handicap being reduced to 8-6 Reductions at Highfleld A high standard of play has characterised the matches held at Highfleld so far this season, and ahead several players have come under the notice of the Handicapping Committee. Recent alterations are:— P. H. Davies, 10-3. M. T. Houlihan. 3-2. G. R. Innes-Jones, 13-10. C. B. Kelt, 12-9. H. W. Monaghan, 15-11. J. A. Morgan, 20-15. 3. A. Shrimpton, 15-11. W. J. Sullivan, 13-10. Memorial Match at North End At a meeting of the committee of the North End Club it was decided to stage a King George Memorial fund competition on May 29. Mr and Mrs S. Anderson have given two trophies for the competition. New Rule Should be Welcome There is no doubt that the new rule at Highfleld regarding Sunday morning starting will do much to relieve the congestion and confusion which has been so apparent of late. The fact that only fourball matches : ray start after 9 o’clock from No. 1 tee will enable players who have their fourball matches arranged and are present on the tee to get under way instead of, as in the past, being ready to start when Knock-out singles would arrive, claim preference and hit off. Another move in the right direction is the supervision by G. B. Forrest of the balls that are p*aced in the trough. The position will be much relieved now that he will check the presence on the tee of all four players before a ball will be allowed to be placed 'n the trough.
