FATAL ACCIDENT

CHARGE AGAINST MOTORIST By Telegraph—Press Association OAMARU, May 18. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., Ebenezer Thomas Lindsay was charged with negligently driving a motor car on the Main North Road, Oamaru, on March 20, thereby causing the death of George Bilton. The accused was further charged with negligently driving a car at the same place and time, thereby causing bodily harm to Andrew Finlay Bain. Twenty witnesses were called, the evidence being on the same lines as at the Coroner’s inquest. The accused pleaded not guilty to both charges. Reserving his defence, he was committed to stand his trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, ball being allowed in self £250 and one surety of £250, conditionally on reporting once weekly to the police.
