LADIES’ UNION INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH A match was played on the Awamoa links, Oamaru, yesterday between a team from Canterbury and a team from the South Canterbury-Otago-Southland Executive district. The event was organised by the New Zealand executive of the Ladies Golf Union wtih a view to providing low handicap players and young promisingplayers with match play games to assist the selectors to choose a team to represent New Zealand in the Tasman Cup matches. The course was heavy after the rain ov: might and troubled some of tr.e players. The outstanding player was Miss Jean Horwell, her play in every department of the game being very sound, particularly her short approach shots, which often left her within inches of the hole. The following were the results, Canterbury names being mentioned first.— Miss Fleming and Mrs McKillop lost to Miss Jean Horwell (Timaru) and Miss Claire Smith (Invercargill) 2 and 1. Misses Rutherford and Buchanan beat Mrs G. Carr (Dunedin) and Miss L. Rice (Wyndham) 4 and 3. Singles Miss V. Fleming lost to Miss Horwell (Timaru) 7 and 6. Mrs McKillop lost to Miss C. Smith (Invercargill) 4 and 3. Miss B. Rutherford beat Mrs I. Carr (Dunedin) 4 and 3. Miss H. Buchanan lost to Miss L. Rice (Wyndham) 3 and 1. Miss White Parsons lost to Mrs W. A.
