KEEN COMPETITION IN LONDON Onlted Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, May 5. At the wool sales, 8020 bales were offered, including 3524 bales New Zealand; 5891 bales were sold. It was a moderate selection, with keen competition for crossbreds, which sold well to the Home trade at full rates. Merinos were largely withdrawn. New Zealand: Scoured merinos, “Stoneleigh” top 31 Id, average 28ld; greasy halfbred, “Hakataramea,” 191 d and 181 d. At the wool sales 8849 bales were offered, Including 5874 from New Zealand, and 7316 were sold. There was a moderate selection, mainly of New Zealand cross-breds, which were well cleared at full rates to the home trade. Other wools were frequently withdrawn. New Zealand lots sold as follows: Scoured merinos. Avlemore (top price, 33d), average 291 d; greasy merino, O.T.K. (top price 21d), average 201 d.
