EVIDENCE OF EXPANSION By Telegraph-Press Asßcria’inn WELLINGTON, May 6. Concrete evidence of the expansion of British trade was given to the Wellington Chamber of Commerce last night by Mr R. Boulter, United Kingdom Trade Commissioner in New Zealand. He also showed that success had attended the efforts of the British Government in its policy of raising prices. The total exports of produce and manufactures amounted to £440,700,000 compared with £4425,800,000, an increase of £15,000,000, while exports of imported merchandise rose from £55,300,000 to £60,400,000. The import totals were £848,900,000 an increase of £93,000,000. He added that the figures for the current year showed a continued increase. In regard to the prices of primary products, he quoted the "Economist” showing all commodities had risen by 9.9 per cert, and primary products by 11 per cent.
