Dr. W. A. Macky, of Wellington, a member of the Government meteorological staff, has arrived in Auckland to take up his new duties as meteorologist attached to the Hobsonville Air Base.

Mr C. W. Corner, superintendent of reserves to the Napier City Council, has been granted six months’ leave of absence on account of ill-health. He will leave shortly on a visit to the Old Country.

The Rev. Father Alink, head of the Mill Hill Mission to the Maoris in New Zealand, left this week for England, where he will visit the headquarters of the order. He expects to be away from New Zealand for about eight months.

Mr E. W. Parr, formerly of Wellington, who left New Zealand two years ago to gain further professional experience abroad, has been appointed assistant civil engineer in the Civil Englneer-ln-Chief’s Department of the Admiralty. He will be stationed at the Dockyard, Devonport.
