PRAISE FOR TIMARU
DELEGATES WELL PLEASED Before leaving Timaru yesterday on his return home, the Mayor of Napier (Mr C. O. Morse) made the following statement to a representative of “The Timaru Herald”; — “As one who has attended the conferences of the Hospital Boards, Municipal Association and the Municipal Electric Supply Association during a period of 10 days, I was able to gain some definite impressions of Timaru and the surrounding districts. First of all I would like to comment on the quality and charm of the talent, both vocal and instrumental at the social evening which we were permitted to attend as the guests of the Mayor and Mayoress. Every artist gave of their best in a most artistic manner, and also every artist appeared to live their art, especially the lady who played the accompaniments.” “The surroundings in Timaru and the countryside in general charmed all who were privileged to travel round,” said Mr Morse. “Your gardens must rank equally with any part o* the Dominion, and your reserves superintendent in Timaru is to be- congratulated on the abundance of colour .nd his general display in all his schemes of horticulture.” "I was also privileged to view the harbour works,” continued Mr Morse, “and I gained some very valuable information which convinces me that the proposition undertaken in Napier will be as successful as that in Timaru appears to be. Our grateful thanks are dut to the South Canterbury Hospital Board and the Timaru Borough Council for the manner in which they organised the social side of the various conferences. I am quite sure that all delegates are going away with sunny memories, though at times the sky was overcast.”
