MAX SCHMELING'S OFFER FOR TITLE BOUT United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 11, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 10. Max Schmellng has published an offer to the Deutschland Halle Athletic Club, one of the largest European sporting organisations, for a BraddockSchmeling fight in Berlin in June. The terms are 250,000 dollars net, Braddock receiving 50,000 dollars, and compensation for Madison Square Garden and other groups for losses has been arranged. Schmellng has deposited 25,000 dollars that he would meet Joe Louis in the United States in September if he beats Braddock. MAURICE STRICKLAND IN AMERICA IMPRESSIVE FIRST APPEARANCE United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copvriaht NEW YORK, March 11. Maurice Strickland (New Zealand) made an impressive American start by fighting a draw in a Ven round bout with Arturo Godoy, the unbeaten American. A crowd of 4000 saw a rousing fight in which action never lagged. Godoy had 171 b advantage and finished strongly to offset Strickland's early lead. Strickland’s rights to the chin earned him rouns 2,3, 4 and 5 in succession.
