LABOUR UNREST

RIFT IN FEDERATION POLICY United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 10, 7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 10 Mr Lewis announces that the C. 1.0. is starting the creation of State Labour Federations and City Central Labour bodies, as rivals of similar bodies existing within the American Federation of Labour, thus making the final break with the Federation. It is announced that the C. 1.0. will soon start organisation drives to enroll most of the 2,250,000 workers in the textile, and oil refining industries. Mr William Green (president of the American Federation of Labour) said the action of the C. 1.0. was only what he predicted a year ago. Meanwhile the strikers hold full control of the Chrysler plants at Detroit. The Hudson works are also closed, but the General Motors plants at Flint have been reopened. The Governor of the State (Mr Murphy) is prepared to fly from Florida to renew the peace efforts.
