NATIONAL MEETING MASEFIELD WINS SERVICE CHAMPIONSHIP By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 7. After a shoot off to determine first place in the final of the service championship series, the title was won by W. N. Masefield (Blenheim) at the national rifle meeting at Trentham yesterday. Maseflejd and J. H. Kearney (Napier), 1930 service champion, tied in the championship, each with a score of 251 out of a possible 300. In the subsequent shoot off, comprising one compulsory sighter and five rounds application, Masefield made 21 and Kearney 16. Although Masefield has won the King’s Prize three times, this is the first time he has become holder of the Ross Carbine Champion Belt, awarded to the winner of the service championship. O’Donnell) 718 GLENITI OUTDOOR CLUB A most enjoyable afternoon was spent on the range on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being the friendly shoot with a team from Pleasant Point Miniature Club. The visitors won by one point, the totals being 479 against 478. The Point men, considering they have had no practice, shot exceedingly well. C. Thoreau, with 49-49-98, secured the highest score of the day. Scores:—

463 During the afternoon the fifteenth and second last round of the championship was completed. Mrs C. Peddie, with 49-47-96, won the women’s button, and J. Hull won the men’s after a shoot-off with G. Porter and W. T. Taylor. Scores:—
