THE NEW RICHNESS of FABRICS
pABRICS will supply quite a large proportion of the fashion interest in the coming autumn season and already we find some glorious samples opening up in the stores. In fact, it looks at this early stage as though rich materials will steal the giant’s share of plaudits. Not only are all sorts of fascinating novelty dress lengths being revealed, but ready-made garments are being imported all stamped with the hallmark of elegance and all sumptuous fabrics. The collection of evening coats shown on this page have a Coronation splendour about them, and all are imported to Australia and New Zealand.
The very charming mannequin who wears them is pretty Miss Aileen Britton, of Kirribilli, New South Wales, who is Australia’s latest successful aspirant to screen fame. She has been chosen to play in Cinesound’s new picture “Tall Timber.” Miss Britton, who is a tall, slim brunette, wears to advantage the new tunic length coats, two of which .are shown on this page. The model on the right, with its flared lines and full shouldered sleeves, is a particularly useful garment to slip on over a dinner frock or for a first night at the theatre.
