Mar. 19 11.16 p.m. Full Moon Mar. 27 t 0.42 a.m. CONDITIONS IN TIMARU The most pleasant weather for some weeks favoured Timaru yesterday when, from dawn to dusk the sky was clear and bright sunshine provided perfect conditions. Records at Timaru Park yesterday were:— Barometer—29.92. Max. temp.—7l degs. Min. temp, on grass—3s.B. Wihd—N.N.E.2. Rainfall to midnight— Nil. Rainfall to date this year—6.7sins. Rainfall to date last year—ll.2sms. Sunshine —11 hours. Sunshine to date this year—4ls.7hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch—The sun shone brilliantly throughout the day, but a fresil north-easterly breeze kept the maximum temperature down to 64.5 degrees. The minimum was 33.3 degrees. Ashburton—The weather yesterday morning was fine, with bright sunshine. A moderate wind was blowing from the north-east, and the sky was cloudless early. Two points of rain were recorded on Thursday; the total for the month to date being 42 points. Geraldine—Perfect conditions were enjoyed yesterday, bright sunshine continuing throughout the day. Teniuka—The maximum temperature yesterday was 70 degrees and the minimum 33. The glass was falling las'; evening. Wainiate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday): Thermometer: Maximum 62, minimum 42.2, bright sunshine six hours 36 minutes. Wind gauge—miles run in the last 24 hours —4B. Yesterday was bright and sunny, the finest weather which has been experienced for some time. Dunedin—Perfect weather prevailed yesterday, the sun shining from a cloudless sky. There was a moderate north-east breeze which tempered the heat. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometer stood at 29.27 inches, showing a slight falling tendency. DOMINION METEOROLOGIST (Forecast at 4 p.m. yesterday) General Situation—An anticyclone now extends across the Tasman Sea on to the Dominion, but a series of slight depressions is moving along its southern border and across Southern New Zealand. Winds—Southerly north of New Plymouth and Napier, elsewhere variable, with northerlies prevailing at first, but changing tb westerlies, and later in places temporarily to south-westerlies; force strong at times in the Cook and Toveaux areas, but otherwise light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Becoming rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and rather rough on the west coast of the South Island; elsewhere slight to numerate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light variable Wi',ds in the northern portion, with slight seas; moderate to strong southwesterly to westerly in the southern portion With moderate to rather rough seas. Weather—Fair to fine in most parts, but cloudy at times in districts With a westerly aspect and with rain gradually developing, more especially in the western and southern portions of the South Island: cool night, but temperatures becoming gradually milder.
