LARGE OFFERING OF EWES The Holme Station sale held yesterday was the first market at which any number of breeding ewes were submitted to auction. PRODUCE MARKETS CHRISTCHURCH By Telegraph —Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. March 3. No great amount of business is passing in the grain and produce markets, which are in the meantime quieter even than they have been in the recent very dull weeks. Most of the transactions going through are between merchants. Wheat is very quiet in the meantime with a limited demand, and holders not anxious to sell. Reports from southern seed growing centres are so gloomy that the market for ryegrass is firm, and oats, which have been very weak, have taken an upward turn.
