Mr and Mrs McGregor, Oamaru, are staying at the Grand. Mrs Webb, Christchurch, is staying with her daughter, Mrs F. G. M. Raymond, Beverley Road. Miss Beatrice Crommelin, Dannevirke, is the guest of Mrs A. G. Tait. The Rectory, North Street. Mr and Mrs Boot, Nelson, and Mr and Mrs J. D. Lawson, England, are guests at the Grosvenor. Miss Stevens will arrive from Christchurch to-day to stay with Mrs F. Newton, Maltby Avenue. Mr and Mrs Chapman, Kurow, and Miss T. Tait, Dunedin, are guests at the Dominion. Mrs H. H. Fraser, Wai-iti Road, returned yesterday from a visit to her son, Mr J. Home Fraser, “Dusky,” Pukaki. Mr and Mrs H. M. Justice, Mr and Mrs A. G. Justice, Mr and Mrs H. M. Smith and Miss E. Drew, Dunedin, are staying at the Empire. Mrs W. Fea, Elizabeth Street, has returned from a visit to Hae Te Moana. Mr and Mrs Vizer, who are spending the week-end with her, will return to-day to Christchurch. Mrs H. Sinclair-Thomson, Hampton House, LeCren’s Terrace, will leave at the end of the week for Hawke’s Bay to attend the marriage of her brother, Mr J. Elworthy, and Miss Herrick. Dr. Rex. Money, Sydney, who has been attending the conference of surgeons at Auckland, and Mrs Money, will arrive on Wednesday to stay with Mrs G. R. Kingston, Grey Road. Mr and Mrs A. S. Elworthy, “Holme Station,” Pareora, will leave on Friday to attend the races in Christchurch. They will leave later for Hawke’s Bay, where the marriage of their son, Mr John Elworthy, and Miss Hester Herrick will take place on February 9. Mrs Hunter-Weston, Dunedin, who has been spending a few days in Timaru, will leave to-day to stay with Mrs Gould Hunter-Weston, “Mt. John,” Tekapo. Miss Doreen Barron, who is her guest, will return to-day to Dunedin. A large number of friends attended a kitchen evening held at Mr and Mrs P. Gilmore’s residence on Saturday night in honour of the forthcoming marriage of Mr William Charles to Miss Lelia Sewell-Smith. The couple left yesterday for Christchurch, wheYe their wedding will take place tomorrow evening. Mr and Mrs Herbert Elworthy and Miss Elizabeth Elworthy, Craigmore, and Mr and Mrs P. A. Elworthy, Miss Diana Elworthy and Mr Anthony Elworthy, Gordon’s Valley, Mrs W. N. Bond, Miss Mary Bond, “Dunrobin,” Southland, and Miss Elworthy and Miss Nancy Bond, “Pareora Cottage,” LeCren’s Terrace, will leave on Saturday for Hawke’s Bay for the ElworthyHerrick wedding. Miss Diana Elworthy will be a bridesmaid and Mr A. Elworthy will be best man. Miss Trott was hostess at a very enjoyable evening’s tennis on the Waihao Downs courts. The evening was given for Miss Betty Smith, of Rangiora. A delicious supper was served. Mr E. C. Wright, the president, thanked Miss Trott for the very enjoyable time, and made Miss Smith welcome. Miss Smith suitably replied. Those present included: Misses Trott, Smith (Rangiora), M. Hill, B. Anderson, Nancy Thompson, Norah Thompson, M. Goodwin, N. Wright, M. Donnegan, O. Kilworth, and F. Turner, Messrs F. Trott, L. Trott, E. Wright, C. Bayne, H. Ford, W. Peck, T. Thomas, O. Green and J. Depree.
