HARBOUR BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board was held yesterday. Present—Messrs T. B. Garrick (chairman), J. Scott, A. G. Foster, H. M. Whatman, D. C. Turnbull, W. Lindsay, K. Mackenzie, R. S. Goodman, W. T. Ritchie, F. R. Flatman, W. H. Orbell, A. R. Guild and D. C. Kidd. Financial Statement Referring to the financial position, the chairman said that the receipts since the last meeting totalled £8438/11/6. Accounts to be passed that day amounted to £4112/1/3, leaving a credit balance of £4546/6/7 as at December 31. At January 26. there was a debit of £5983/16/3. however, as against £9728/1/11 at the corresponding period of last year. Tender for Timber The tender of Messrs Rosenfeld and Kidson for a brushbox at £l3O/7/- was accepted. Reduction of Interest An application was received asking that the interest on the mortgage to the Gunn estate be reduced from 5 per cent to 44 per cent. It was decided that the reduction be made, providing the capital amount is reduced to £4OOO. Use of Land The Timaru Borough Council made application for the use of an area of land and this was granted at a nominal rental of £l.
