CROQUET

SOUTH CANTERBURY TOURNEY Good progress was made yesterday with the South Canterbury Croquet Association’s tournament, which is being played on the Aorangl Club’s lawns. The final is scheduled to be played to-day, but it is possible that it will have to be extended till Monday, owing to the late arrival from Christchurch of G. Hart, a competitor in the recent New Zealand championship meeting. The games are played under the Yankee system, and each player completed an average of three games on the first day. One player, J. Tannock (Dunedin) is slightly in advance of the others, having five wins to his credit, against the three of his nearest rivals.
