TIMARU HARBOUR IMPROVEMENT SCHEME.— The above plan shows Scheme No. 3, which was finally approved by the Timaru Harbour Board yesterday. The scheme provides for the lifting of portion of the existing North Mole (shown by dotted lines) and the extension of the mole in a north-easterly direction for 1450 feet. Running at right angles for 900 feet is a wall to protect the harbour entrance. The scheme increases the existing manoeuvring area by 68.8 per cent. The improvements also provide for two additional wharves should they be necessary. The total cost it estimated at £242,000.
