WAYS WITH COMES
Here is a decorative way cf using pine cones (states an exchange). Various sizes are required and several small branches, a few small tins of bright enamels or meta Hi paints. Bore a small hole about Ain deep in the base of a cone with a red-hot metal skewer. Put a little glue into the hole and insert the end of a twig. When the branch is loaded with cones paint them. Some look w’ell heavily painted, and others just lightly touched at the tips. BEAUTY LOTIONS FOR WARM DAYS Oatmeal and powdered orrisroot make a pleasant toilet powder in hot weather. Powdered orrisroot can be mixed with oatmeal, a teaspoon of Epsom Salts and a pinch of borax put into a muslin bag; it win then make your bath pleasant and refreshing. Witch hazel is very useful. It can be made into an astringent by mixing it in like quantities with rosewater and hydrogen peroxide, with two drops of spirit of camphor; or it can be made into a tonic mixed with rose-water, the proportion being one teaspoon to two tablespoons of rose-water. For oily skin it is splendid as a tonic. Calomine lotion is a good and safe bleach, and will remove discolourations; and it will also remove surface blemishes. For sunburn and all soreness of the skin, it is excellent. Another beauty point to remember is that soft soap melted over a slow lire makes a very good shampoo.
