Much-travelled Boxer
Freddie Miller, from whom Pete Sarron won the world’s feather-weight championship, is one of the most-tra-velled boxers in the game to-day. He fought all over Europe and in England in defence of his title before going back to the States to defend it against Sarron, anti now he is again touring the world, beating all-comers. He is at present in South Africa, boxing as a light-weight. Manios as Boxer Harry Mamos, who was very popular on his appearance in Timaru and was one of the best men to appear here a few years ago, is now sporting his wrestling wares in South Africa, and has got a little peeved over his nonsuccess in Cape Town, where every time he has appeared he has been disqualified. He thinks he might get by if he turned boxer, and after losing to All Bey he issued a challenge to meet him in a 12-round boxing match “to prove my superiority.” Bey expressed his willingness to meet dim undet any conditions, and all that was required at the latest mail was the sanction of the Board of Control. There were to be side-wagers of £l5O and the purse was the remarkably good one of £450. .
