UNWELCOME GUESTS
BEES INVADE KITCHEN By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, December 26 Unwelcome guests descended on Mrs E. Ramsay, Parnell, when cooking Christmas dinner yesterday, and they were only ejected after a radio appeal had been broadcast. The guests were bees, which had swarmed under the eaves of the house, and, attracted by the appetising Christmas odours, made their way through the scrim wallpaper, and poured in a continued stream into the kitchen. In desperation, Mrs Ramsay telephoned from a neighbour’s to the broadcasting station. A few minutes later a man arrived with a sack, but had to beat a retreat. Later Mr F. Johnston, a Sandringham apiarist arrived, and with the aid of a smoke apparatus lulled the bees into a coma, captured the queen bee and carried the swarm off in a packing case. The Ramsay family enjoyed the Chrstmas dinner, the only casualty being the baby, who was stung.
