CORRESPONDENCE
CAROLINE BAY RESTRICTIONS To the Editor of " The Tlmaru Herald " Sir, —Permit me, as a visitor to Timaru for the holidays, to express my disgust at the unfair way the health regulations are being enforced. I have a girl of 15 years and this young person is to be excluded from Caroline Bay for some days, from Saturday next, and yet she can go into any of the crowded shops in the town, where only those under 13 are excluded. This regulation seems to be quite unfair. Why permit children between the ages of 13 and 16 to go into one crowd where infection is more likely and yet exclude them from the seashore, probably the healthiest part of Timaru? By all means keep children from the crowds, but why keep all under 16 from the sands or from enjoying a dip in the sea, and in any case sir, why this unfair discrepancy in ages?—l am, etc., ASHBURTON.
