BUTCHER ROBBED OF £lOO Bv Telegraph—Pres? Association CHRISTCHURCH, December 25. While the city streets were thronged on Thursday afternoon with Christmas shoppers, an attache case belonging to George Wood Sim, butcher, Colombo Street, which contained approximately £lOO in banknotes and silver, was stolen from his car which was parked on the side of Colombo Street. At 5.45 p.m. Sim before leaving his business premises, placed the day’s receipts in an attache case and placed it in his car. He drove a short distance down Colombo Street to a chemist’s shop, leaving the car parked on the opposite side of the street while he entered the shop. He left the case on th floor of th car. When he returned a few minutes later he discovered that the case had been removed. At the time of the theft there was a large crowd in the street.
