CLERICAL WORKERS
COURT MAKES AWARD By Telegraph—Pres* Association WELLINGTON, December 24. Awards have been made by the Arbitration Court for the first time as affecting clerical workers. There are two branches, one general and the other manufacturers and an award for each. The awards are for the Wellington district. The hours on the whole have been fixed according to the house, but there are special cases, as for instance, the fixing of the 40 hours for newspaper offices. The wage scales are the same in both awards, and range from 15/- for the first half year for boys under 16 to an eventual £5/5/-; females, under 17 15/- to an eventual £2/15/-. Anyone over 21 must receive at least the basic wage. The scale provides for later age as follows: —Males: First year over 16 20/-, 17 25/-, 18 32/6, 19 52, 20 55/-; females. 17 18/-, 18 21/-, 19 24/-, 20 27/-, rising in half-yearly or yearly stages to an eventual £5/5/- for males and £2/15/- for females.
