APPEAL TO LEAGUE
FRANCO-TURKISH DISPUTE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 21, 6.30 p.m.) GENEVA, December 19. The Council of the League of Nations has considered the request of the Turkish Government, concerning the dispute with France, as to Alexandretta and Antioch. Tevfik Reustue Aras (Turkish Foreign Minister) and M. Vienot (representing France) stated their Governments’ cases.
The Council afterwards unanimously adopted the report by M. Sandler (Swedish Foreign Minister) and a resolution adjourning the merits of the question to the January session and noting the assurance given by the representative of France to Turkey, to contribute to a satisfactory solution, and deciding to send to the Sanjanke of Alexandretta, three observers to inform the Council.
