FOUR YEAR PLAN
GERMAN LEADERS CONFERRING United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright LONDON, December 20. The Berlin correspondent of "The Times” says that General Goering was holding a conference with leading representatives of German industry regarding the four year self-sufficiency plan when Herr Hitler unexpectedly arrived and delivered a speech, exhorting industry to fulfil its duties under the plan. Herr Hitler explained that he had entrusted General Goering with the execution of the plan, because for General Goering the word “impossible" did not exist.
It is reported that the purpose of the conference was to impress on industrialists the military urgency of the plan, owing to the lack of confidence with which the Government’s whole economic policy is viewed in business circles generally.
CONSTITUTION OF MISSION EXPERTS TO VISIT ENGLAND United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph - Copyright (Received December 22, 12.5 a.m.) LONDON, December 21. “The Daily Herald” says that the German Economic Mission, consisting of three experts, visited London last week seeking a basis for barter trade with the Dominions. They offered in exchange certain goods for dairy produce, wool and other primary products, but the Dominion representatives were not encouraging.
It is significant that the price of Dominion butter has fallen by nearly 10/- per cwt during the past ten days, owing to the diversion to the British market of supplies of Danish and Lithuanian butter, which has been shut out from Germany.
