Still Unconscious Noel Hooper, the Young Geraldine man who was admitted to Timaru Hospital on Sunday night with grave head Injuries which he suffered when his motor-cycle collided with a wandering calf on the main road north of Temuka, was still in an unconscious condition at a late hour last night. Ravages of Weasels A farmer in the Seadown area had a very unfortunate visitation from weasels lately. He had two coops, holding in all 96 chicks. About half were one month old and the remainder two months old. All was well at evening feed time, but in the morning every chick was dead with its neck chewed, the rodents having burrowed a way into both coops. Chinese Gravely Injured Charlie Hong, a Chinese, suffered serious internal injuries yesterday morning when the lorry he was driving down a hill on the main road in the vicinity of Timaru Park collided with a power pole. The cause of the accident is unknown. The front of the lorry was damaged by the impact, the engine being pushed back, and the pole was knocked out of plumb. Hong was operated on last night, his condition being considered very serious. Powers Exdeeded The Heathcote County Council, which last week decided to impose a special registration fee of £1 on Alsatian dogs, has now discovered that it has no power to impose any such charge. The Council acted under the impression that amending legislation had been passed during the last session of Parliament. The Bill has not yet become law, however. Under the Dog Registration Act the fee fixed by the local authority must be 10/-, except for working dogs, the fee for which must not be less than 1/-. Probate Granted Probate has been granted in the following estates: Henry Constable Segers, retired draper, of Ashburton; Hugh Millar, farmer, of Ashburton; Katherine Nicol, widow, of Timaru; Janet McCaskill, widow, of Timaru; Ralph Hatcllffe Priest, ironmonger, of Timaru; Annie McCulloch, widow; Thomas Harrison, flourmiller, of Winchester; John Dunnett, farmer, of Fairlie; William Edgar Harris, baker, of Timaru. Letters of administration have been granted in the following estates: George Lawrence Waite, farmer, of Seadowh, and Douglas Dixon Dryden, medical practitioner, of Timaru. Where Not to Park At the present time the traffic department of the Borough Council is experiencing considerable trouble owing to thoughtless motorists parking cars in prohibited areas and exceeding the time limit in streets where parking is allowed. Traffic Inspector C. H. Newcome told a representative of "The Timaru Herald” yesterday that there was a 20-minute limit in Stafford Street and its arteries. There was no parking on the south side of Beswick Street and the east side of Cain’s Terrace, no parking on either side of Stafford Street from Sefton Street to Hewling Street (Bay Hill) and around the intersection at the Bay Viaduct. Post-Primary School Transport The Timaru-St. Andrews branch of the Farmers’ Union has been in communication with the Minister of Education (Hon. P. Fraser) with a view to arranging a conference with him at Ashburton when the question of transport for country children attending post-primary schools in the district could be discussed. Yesterday the secretary of the branch (Mr A. Thoreau) received the following telegram: "In reference to your telegrams regarding the question of my attending a conference of those concerned in post-primary school conveyance in South Canterbury, I regret that this is not possible. By my direction a departmental officer will visit the district early in the New Year to make inquiries and confer with the several boards concerned and with yourself and committee.”
