Members of the South Canterbury Bowling Centre met at the residence of Mr Jas. Moyes, Te Weka Street, on Thursday at a banquet and social gathering in honour of Mr Richard Shlllito, a former member of the Centre, and a past Dominion Councillor, who has been In Sydney for over three years. All members accorded Mr Shlllito a hearty welcome and a very happy evening was spent In reminiscences, music and songs. Mr Shlllito thanked the Centre for the heartiness of their welcome, and Mr and Mrs Moyes for their great kindness, and recalled former occasions when his associations with their host and hostess and with the Centre had afforded him many happy memories. He had returned to Timaru, his adopted home town, to renew old friendships which were dear to him. It was not his present intention to commence hard work again, but he was prepared to serve his town and fellow-citizens should his services be desired in any capacity and to the best of his ability. He would attach himself to his old club, Kia Toa, of which he was a foundation member, and whose members, some years ago, had honoured him by his election as a life member. The members of the bowling fraternity had extended to him a most generous welcome, which was typical of New Zealanders and particularly the bowlers of Soutn Canterbury, and "from the bottom of my heart I express to you all my sincere thanks.”
